BARBARA PATE GLACEL, Ph.D.

Barbara P. Glacel, PH.D. Barbara Pate Glacel has over thirty years experience in coaching and teaching leaders at all levels of organizations. From the boardroom to the classroom, Dr. Glacel’s high energy, practical style has inspired leaders on four continents. She is a master at observation and feedback, opening vistas that allow leaders to set goals and realize higher performance than they had imagined possible.

Dr. Glacel is a hands-on leader, having "cut her organizational teeth" in the oil fields of Prudhoe Bay, Alaska. Her experience in this demanding business and physical environment taught her the first-hand lessons of real-time decision making, interpersonal and influence relationships, team development and goal alignment. Having joined ARCO Alaska from the academic community, she has often wished she could find her former MBA students and tell them the real business world is different from their text books.

After twelve years of academic teaching and business consulting, Dr. Glacel entered corporate America. Following her two years with ARCO Alaska, Dr. Glacel joined a division of the Hay Group in Washington, D.C., where she formed their management development consulting practice. In 1988, Dr. Glacel founded VIMA International–The Leadership Group, where she served as CEO until 2000. She is also Vice President and director of the Chesapeake Broadcasting Corporation.
